At Queenswood we are committed to supporting all learners and will provide additional support to our pupils, staff, parents and carers, irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, religion or socio-economic background.
Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) co-ordinator is Miss Vincent and she is currently working alongside the Multicultural Development Team (MDT) within Telford and Wrekin to continue to accelerate the progress of pupils who have English as an Additional Language (EAL).
This will provide the necessary support to break down barriers like understanding the English language, so the pupils are able to feel confident in what they are asked to do and how to be successful learners and make good progress.
We encourage any parent who feels less confident in communicating with staff to add an app to their mobile phone device. This app is called ‘Say Hi’ and looks like this.
‘Say Hi’ app translates any language to another by speech or typing and can send a message or speak the words for you. Our Class Dojo also has this option to message your child(s) teacher to ensure communication is flowing and no one feels left in the dark or unable to communicate if they have any concerns.
